What is a custom printed lamp?

A custom printed lamp is a lamp — table, desk or hanging — whose shade carries your own image instead of a stock pattern. The artwork is printed on a heat-resistant translucent material, so when the lamp is switched on the design glows from behind rather than sitting flat on the surface. Off, it reads as a printed panel; on, the photo, mandala, quote or logo becomes the light itself.

Because the light source is LED, the shade stays cool, the colours hold, and the lamp works the same way in a bedroom, on a study table, at an office workstation or in a shop.

3. Contrast — the image is read through a lit shade, so high contrast survives better than a soft, low-contrast photo.
4. Background — a busy group photo turns to noise at lamp size; one subject on a clean background stays readable.
5. Text — keep lettering large and away from the shade seam, because a fold or edge can clip thin type.

Will the print fade, peel or yellow?

The shade material is heat-resistant and the print is cured onto it, so a correctly printed lamp does not peel the way a sticker would. LED bulbs run cool, which is what keeps the colours stable over years of use. Two things shorten the life: an open flame or incandescent bulb placed against the shade, and direct sunlight on the lamp for long hours. Dust the shade with a dry cloth — a wet wipe can smear fine detail on a matte print.
